Richard Ellis was nominated for Student of the Month by a student peer, Nick Stewart. Stewart stated, “Richard should be nominated for Student of the Month for various reasons. Richard has a passion for his education that is infectious and inspiring. Having had multiple classes with Richard, he is always willing and eager to help his classmates and participate in class. Richard is not only passionate for his education, but he also leads by setting a stellar example.”
Richard is currently in his last semester at NAU. In December of 2015, he will be receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Technology Management. During Richard’s tenure at NAU, he has maintained a 4.0 GPA. Richard is a member of PHI BETA LAMBDA, TAU SIGMA National Honor Society and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. After graduation, Richard stated, “I haven’t completely decided if I am going to take a job as a Network Administrator, or start a new company focusing on providing IT Support & Consultation Services. Either way I feel NAU has given me the tools to be successful.”
Richard is a student of NAU’s Extended Campuses. When asking Richard what his secret to success is, he stated,“I think my secret to success is the same quality we all have, and that is the drive to do better”. I find a satisfaction in knowing that I try to do things better tomorrow than I did today, and it gives me something to strive for. And, never give up, just because you trained for one career doesn’t mean you can’t choose something else later. Goals and achievements are important, but you have to be happy too.”
In Richard’s free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and traveling. He is a passionate Lumberjack and loves being an NAU student.
Congratulations Richard Ellis on being selected as the October 2015 #NAUBBASOTM!
