Management Internships

Enterprise Management Internship Program

  • $11.00 an hour

As a Management Intern, you’ll hit the ground running. You’ll take on many of the same tasks as our management trainees learning what it takes to run a successful business and honing your entrepreneurial skills.

This is a full-time, paid internship. That means we’ll put you in the middle of everything as you develop the skills to manage a fleet of hundreds of late-model vehicles. We’ll teach you how to take care of our customers — by actually working with them. You’ll learn to develop marketing strategies. And you’ll practice building business-to-business relationships. You’ll even use the skills you learned to complete intern projects and compete for scholarships.

Gowan Domestic Customer Service Representative Intern

Responsible for functions within Gowan’s Customer Service.  Demonstrates advanced problem solving and communication skills along with a very high level of attention to detail.  Key resource for Gowan Sales professionals, external customer base and internal Supply Chain and Finance functions.  Reports to Customer Service Manager – Americas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Control all phases of Gowan customer orders (receive/enter orders, print bills of lading & invoices).
  • Organize stock transfers of once goods are produced & receive them in Gowan’s E1 ERP System.
  • Work with 3PL provider to find best transportation method and/or carriers directly.
  • Recommend appropriate stocking levels at warehouse locations.
  • Perform all monthly reconciliation of warehouse inventories in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with sales representatives on customer calls, product moves, etc.
  • Track product managers’ special programs.
  • Provide support to customer service team and back up during lunch hours and high peak times.
  • Work on special projects as needed. 

Required Professional Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Applied Business Economics or Operations Management preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in ERP, POS, or Logistical work
  • Successful candidates will be asked to show proof that they can legally work in the United States.

Pay and Hours:

  • This will be a paid internship. Salary starts at $14/hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
  • Hours for this internship will be Monday through Thursday, 8am to 5pm for a period of 3 months. Schedule may be flexible, depending on availability. This can be discussed during the interview process.

Logistics/Supply Chain Management Internships

Marten Transport Supply Chain and Operations

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, this person will be responsible for learning the management of a small fleet of professional truck drivers, ensuring safety and the timely service of all freight movements. This person will also be trained in DOT regulations to ensure drivers are within compliance. They will also work with internal contacts to ensure correct plans, routes, and on-time service for all customer loads. They will also be responsible for developing and cultivating relationships with drivers while having an empathetic attitude. They will also be responsible for precise communication with all internal and external contacts. This person must be willing to work in a high-paced work environment while maintaining a high level of organization. 

Job Description & Key Responsibilities:

•      Gain experience and understanding of general transportation and logistics management principles. 

•      Build positive relationships with drivers, to minimize turnover and increase utilization.

•      Cultivate existing customer relationships to increase load count, driver utilization and profit margin.

•      Work with the assigned sales director to understand customer commitments, networks, and pricing.

•      Learn how to manage internal and external yards to drive the best utilization of equipment.

•      Gain knowledge on driver payroll, driver counseling, driver safety, and accident reviews. 

•      Participate in special projects that are assigned by the Operations Manager.

•      Bring new ideas and suggestions to the Operations Manager that will drive operational excellence.

•      Understand industry trends and company initiatives.

Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Operations Management, or another business-related business major.


Marketing Internships

News-Press & Gazette Company

Opportunity: 4 paid internships

  • Junior or Senior-level NAU Yuma business/marketing majors
  • Spring 2023
  • $14 per hour for 64 hours (2, 4-hour sessions per week on-site for 8 weeks). 
  • Students will also be able to get course credit for the internship.
  • Two 4-hour shifts per week would include:
    • Specific Promax training modules
    • Structured Training by department managers and marketing consultants
    • Time spent creating reports for AEs about the performance of current client campaigns and delivering results 
    • Time researching and calling clients who have not advertised for 1-2 years
      • Any warm lead would be given to an existing consultant
      • Intern would work with the marketing consultants to see how to work with a potential customer
      • Help create marketing proposals
    • There will be an opportunity to earn incentive money based on successful appointment setting and new business generated during the internship 

Job Description:

NPG Marketing Consultants have the unique opportunity to help local businesses grow.  Their work also provides the revenue the station needs to provide local journalism to our community.

Much like a marketing agency, NPG marketing consultants get to know the business owners and their goals.  This gives the consultants the ability to create a customized approach to driving customers to the business.

As an intern, you will learn about all of the digital and broadcast TV tools used in marketing. You will learn how to research a business to understand the competition they face and how they may stand out.  Then you will have the chance to partner with one of our current consultants to work with the business.

NPG Marketing Consultants are responsible for all aspects of client management.  Consultants work with business owners and decision makers to develop customized plans designed to help them increase revenue, take more market share, and hire more employees. Consultants are required to maintain a knowledge of the ever-increasing marketing tactics we have to offer, as well as products offered by competitors, to help local businesses navigate a crowded market.  A desire to continuously learn and a drive to grow our local economy are essential for a successful marketing consultant.

Week one: Introduction to Advertising a Local Business

  • You will learn the impact that advertising on any platform can have for local entrepreneurs
  • You will learn how local broadcasters serve the community
  • You will learn the functions of a marketing consultant and the potential career path
  • Introduction to broadcast television – in-person with station leadership from sales and marketing, programming, news, traffic, engineering, and commercial production

Week two:

  • You will gain more in-depth knowledge of broadcast television local and network programming
  • You will gain more in-depth knowledge of interactive content production and how local businesses use digital content to market their businesses
  • Digital marketing training sessions, in-person with sales and marketing, digital specialists, and digital content production team

Week three:

  • You will learn how to conduct client needs meetings
  • You will learn how to create customized marketing presentations
  • You spend time with current marketing consultants and sales management (out of the office observing in-person client meetings)

Week four:

  • You will learn how the schedule management system & creative trafficking process works
  • You will learn how to research businesses in the area to discover operations we can help
  • You will learn how to generate consultation appointments

Week five:

  • You will begin to set appointments for free marketing consultations
  • You will learn how to develop a customized marketing presentation

Week six:

  • You will set several more appointments for marketing consultations
  • You will attend marketing consultation meetings with our consultants
  • You will collaborate with commercial production and marketing team to help develop solutions for prospective clients

Week seven:

  • You will collaborate with commercial production and marketing to help develop solutions for prospective clients
  • You will attend marketing consultation meetings / marketing presentation meetings with our consultants

Week eight:

  • You will attend marketing consultation meetings / marketing presentation meetings with our consultants
  • You will attend an on-location commercial production shoot
  • We will conduct a recap of the internship and perform a skills check
