Professor of the Year (POY) – Business

The purpose of this award is to acknowledge the excellent work our Business Professors are performing day by day and give them recognition for it with this once-a-year award.

The Guidelines for this award are the following:

1. The Professor must be nominated by NAU Yuma students, faculty, or staff.  One award might be given to part-time faculty and one for full-time faculty.

2. For the nomination submission, only the name of the professor and a paragraph describing why the professor was nominated is required.

3. The nomination for the POY Business award is not directly linked with the NAU Yuma Teacher of the Year (TOY) award. A professor could win both awards and one is not a prerequisite for winning the other award or excludes the professor from receiving the other award.

4. The NAU Yuma POY Business Award will be given to deserving professors in a special ceremony (over Zoom) organized to honor and recognize their work, with students, faculty, and staff as the audience. The winners will receive a plaque and an incentive.

5. The timeline would resemble the NAU Yuma Toy Award.

6. The nomination forms should be submitted before the deadline through the website or by email to Paige.Leister@nau.edu.

7. A Committee will be formed of non-nominees of the given year to evaluate the nominations and decide the deserving winner.

8. The Committee will use a rubric.

Nomination Form – Part-Time/Full-Time Professor of the Year

Business

Honor an NAU-Yuma business faculty member by nominating them for Professor of the Year. You may nominate a part-time faculty member as well as a full-time faculty member. All NAU-Yuma students, faculty, and staff may submit nominations. The faculty members who receive this honor will be recognized at a special ceremony organized for that purpose.

Deadline: March 2024

NOTE: All nominees must have taught at NAU-Yuma DBA&L for at least two semesters. Instructors for online and/or in-person classes offered by NAU Yuma DBA&L’s programs are eligible.

2. Based on your experience with the nominee, describe what qualities the nominee possesses that prompt your nomination for NAU Yuma Professor of the Year – Business. Write a paragraph explaining why you are nominating this Professor in particular. Here are some aspects/areas you might want to consider while writing your nomination. You do not have to consider all of them, just the ones you might think are applicable.

1. Exhibits exemplary performance in the classroom.
2. Is well accepted and respected by colleagues and administrators.
3. Is innovative, creative, and enthusiastic in his/her professional activities.
4. Is involved in pursuing professional enrichment and intellectual growth.
5. Has demonstrated contributions to the Yuma community, to NAU-Yuma, and/or to his/her area of teaching and expertise.
